LA City Council is considering formal support for one of the most important pieces of federal restaurant COVID-19 recovery legislation (council file #20-0002-S114), the RESTAURANTS ACT HR 7197.

This bipartisan, bicameral proposal would support hard-hit independent restaurants through a new $120 billion Revitalization Fund. This lifeline would help independent restaurants deal with the long-term structural challenges facing the industry because of COVID-19 and secure the employment of 11 million workers across 500,000 small businesses, as well as the five million more jobs up and down their supply chains. This is good for the industry, as a WHOLE! We cannot let this get away from us.

We have partnered with both the Independent Restaurant Coalition (IRC) and Independent Hospitality Coalition (IHC) in pushing SoCal federal lawmakers to sponsor HR 7197. Most have sponsored but some still have not. LA City Council support will send a message to federal lawmakers this is good for Angelenos.

I ask you to please, take 5 minutes TODAY to write a brief statement you support this proposal through the city clerk’s online public comment form here. This motion is literally sitting on a shelf collecting dust because there is no interest from the LA community. Lets change that, today!
